Smart Digest for Jira

Smart Digest replaces a stream of separate Jira emails with one grouped digest: every hour or once a day. You can read it in Jira, and optionally receive it by email, Slack, or Microsoft Teams.

Requirements

• Jira Cloud. The App does not run on Data Center or Server.
• A site admin installs it from the Atlassian Marketplace.
• An active trial or paid subscription.

Turn a digest on

Nothing is sent until each person opts in.

1. Open your avatar menu and choose Smart Digest.
2. Set frequency to every hour or once a day.
3. For a daily digest, pick the hour in your Jira profile time zone.
4. Leave “don’t notify me about my own changes” on, unless you want your own edits included.
5. Optionally keep due-today and overdue reminders.
6. Choose channels. Email uses Jira’s notification mail. For Slack or Teams, paste an incoming webhook address. That address is stored as a secret.
7. Save.

Read the digest

Open Apps → Smart Digest.

• Waiting for the next digest shows events collected since the last send.
• Dated cards are digests already sent. A card notes an email, Slack, or Teams error if that channel failed.

An hour with no events does not create a card and does not send mail.

What is included

Status, comment, assignee, priority, and due-date changes, plus due-today and overdue reminders, for issues where you are the assignee, the reporter, or a watcher. Edits that only change the issue title are not included.

Turn it off

Set frequency to Off and save. Collection stops. A site admin can also uninstall the App.
